RECYLING UPDATE
50,000 pounds. One blue bin. You can help.
Dunedin has a goal – recycle 50,000 pounds each month until the annual celebration of America Recycles Day on November 15th. So far the numbers are looking good.
In July, 50,300 pounds of recyclables were collected from homes and businesses in Dunedin. That means the goal was reached with 300 pounds to spare. In August, the goal was exceeded by almost 4,500 pounds.
“Dunedin residents are really out doing themselves. Each day more and more people are becoming part of the solution. We’re collecting more material per stop from local businesses, condos and apartments which is really bringing up our numbers. Our homeowners are doing a great job too - we’re getting new signups everyday which will help us reach and even surpass our goal.” says City Sustainability Coordinator, Valerie Lane.
Want to help reach this goal? Get a blue bin and start recycling.
Still not sold on recycling? Dunedin is hosting a recycling seminar at the Dunedin Community Center on November 8th at 10:30 am. Residents will learn about the benefits of recycling and how easy it is to start.
The seminar is part Dunedin’s Sustainability Seminar Series and residents who attend will receive a FREE reusable grocery bag to take home. Be sure to contact the City if you have suggestions for future seminars.
